Cigarette Run
I wake up next to a woman and send her for cigarettes. Or I wake up and the woman goes for cigarettes without my asking. The woman wakes up and says, I’m going to have to keep Gary away for awhile, which I either reply, Get me some cigarettes, or, Cigarettes. I never hear from the woman again. She moves on. I’ll have to keep Gary away for awhile, are the last words this woman speaks before even putting on a shirt and I just send her out for cigarettes or off to die. Perhaps the woman was unable to successfully keep from Gary. Captured by Gary while out for cigarettes and shred to ribbons. Gary the wolf, she has said. Before the woman even put on a shirt I put a hand on the woman’s cheek and said, It’s sad but it’s true. I said, She had a good home she just wouldn’t say. A kiss on the cheek. The woman the harlot. Gary the wolf. The cheek in ribbons.
